Growing in Faith in 2026 | Wednesday in The Word for December 31, 2025

1 Peter 2:1-3

Our Inheritance Through Christ’s Blood

1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,
2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

1 Peter 5:6-7

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

2 Peter 1:5-9

Fruitful Growth in the Faith

5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

2 Peter 3:18

18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Context

  • Why should we ‘add to our faith’… ‘with all diligence’? (Matthew 7:25, Luke 9:23, John 15:5, Philippians 2:12, 13, 1 John 2:12-14)

Reflection

  1. What are the lists in scripture that must be ‘put to death’? (Matthew 15:17-20, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21, James 3:15, 16)
  2. What are some ‘new life’ lists of spiritual superpowers? (Galatians 5:22, 23, Ephesians 6:14-18, Philippians 4:8, James 3:17, 18, 2 Timothy 2:22, 2 Peter 1:5-7)
  3. Why is growing in faith ‘from victory’ and not ‘for victory’? Where does all the power and fruit come from? (Proverbs 3:5, John 15:5, Romans 6:1-7, 13:15, Galatians 5:16, Ephesians 5:18, 6:10)
  4. How’s your spiritual diet? (Job 23:12, Psalm 1:1-6, 119:103, Ezek 3:1-3, Matthew 4:4, 5:6, John 8:31, James 1:21)

Testimony Time

  1. How can we grow in the faith in 2026…. In prayer? (Luke 11:1-4, Philippians 4:6, 7)
  2. In the Word? (Luke 4:4) In fellowship-discipleship-local church? (Hebrews 10:24, 25)
  3. In witnessing, missions? (Acts 1:8, 1 Peter 3:15)
